Selinunte Jazz Club 2020
The summer festival by Curva Minore, Reef Pub and Lido Zabbara is born.
From the collaboration between the Palermo association Curva Minore, Lido Zabbara and Reef Pub a new festival is born, whose common thread is the music that accompanies the sunsets on the Mediterranean Sea. The festival formula sees the groups engaged in a double event: among the dunes of Lido Zabbara at sunset, on the terrace of Reef Pub in the evening.
This is the first time that such a high-level musical program has been created in this splendid summer setting. An events calendar that involves musicians from all over Sicily, but whose artistic proposal even goes beyond national borders. This is the case of the very young saxophonist Marco Marotta, who will arrive in Selinunte from London, but also of the virtuoso Turkish guitarist Tolga, a true star of gypsy/manouche music, who has already warmed up audiences all over the world. Also on hand will be the double bass player Marco Giuseppe Zammuto, recently recalled from the European circuits, the drummer Domenico Sabella, the saxophonist Tommaso Miranda, and the already established multi-instrumentalist Calogero Genco, who will propose a mix of acoustic jazz, combined with electronic elements.
A true ancestral journey into the world of sounds. A special note for the very young Karabà trio, which brings together musicians and composers of Senegalese and Sicilian origin. They will perform with original songs in which the African sound marries the bright Sicilian atmospheres. The Sicilian Improvisers Orchestra will kick off the series of evenings, directly from Palermo to propose an original repertoire of songs linked to imaginary folklore, which however embraces the musicality of the entire Mediterranean basin.
